CIngulata 2017 Hand-dyed embossed leather and gold-plated brass Edition of 6 + 1 A.P. Various dimensions A leather armor shell encloses the face. The dermal plates that echo the facial contours are shaped using vacuum forming. A variety of osteoderm-like textures are manually embossed into the hand dyed skin. Cingulata is a continuation of Paradise (2016), an ongoing research into wearable objects that in their shape, construction (and movement) reference a natural origin, morphing human, animal and plant into new creatures of paradise. Cingulata is supported by Creative Industries Fund NL. Special thanks to ArtEZ Institute of the Arts. Photography: Juuke Schoorl
